If you followed it step by step, it should work. I can't guarantee the exact same results I got because the pictures are probably different.
you don't use the feather thing.. you use the gradient tool on your upside down picture. you'll get the one that has the black color and the transparent one. change the black color one to whatever your background color is and just use that gradient over your picture.if you need more help let me know.

i think i know how to reflect an image... i'll have to try it.. but i think you select the picture, and put it on a new layer, then you copy the picture again, turn the copied picture upside down and then go to select the whole picture and right click and then feather and change it to like 20.. I'm not sure but i think that is how you do it.
